One of the most important recent developments concerning Abdul Joshi is the official review of his 2025 Tirich Mir summit claimIn February 2026 the Alpine Club of Pakistan announced that an independent review had found the team led by Abdul Joshi did not reach the true summit and instead reached a false summit The committee declared Sirbaz Khan and Abid Baig the first Pakistani climbers with a verified ascent of the true summit in 2025

On 1 August 2025 Abdul Joshi led a five member team from Shimshal Valley on an expedition to Tirich Mir which they reported as a successful ascent through a new technically challenging route

The Tirich Mir expedition was undertaken under Joshi’s Summit for Climate Change campaign which aims to connect high altitude expeditions with awareness about climate change and environmental degradation

Abdul continued his high altitude mountaineering activities during 2024 including reported expeditions to major international peaks such as Aconcagua and K2

On 16 May 2022 Abdul Joshi successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest and raised the Pakistani flag at the top of the world He became the eighth Pakistani to summit Everest at that time

In August 2021 Abdul led a Shimshal team that made history by completing the first successful ascent of the main Passu Cone The climb reached approximately 6076 metres and included female climbers Sultana Nasab and Shama Baqir
