Abrar Ul Haq is a self-taught independent filmmaker and cinematographer based in Islamabad, and the founder of ABH Film Studio. His work spans cinematography, film editing, hybrid VFX, production design, and production management, with experience across commercial, television, narrative, and documentary projects, including productions associated with the BBC and Al Jazeera. He works where creativity meets technology, solving filmmaking challenges with practical and digital methods. His focus is commercial filmmaking with a clear visual identity and strong storytelling.

About Me

I’m an independent filmmaker and cinematographer who has built his career by learning, experimenting, and finding new ways to solve filmmaking challenges. Being self-taught has shaped how I work: I question existing methods, learn through practical experience, independent research, and trial and error, and look for better ways to turn creative ideas into reality.

My Approach

I don’t follow technology simply because it is new, or established methods simply because they are familiar. I believe in understanding the tools, questioning the process, and choosing what best serves the film. Over the years, techniques I explored independently have appeared in similar forms across the wider industry, which reinforces my belief in independent experimentation. Some of the best ideas begin with asking whether something can be done differently.

My primary focus is commercial filmmaking. I want to create films that do more than present a product or deliver a message, with a clear visual identity, strong storytelling, and a sense of purpose. My ambition is to develop a distinctive approach to commercial production that combines cinematic craft, technical innovation, and practical execution.
