
I am Sohana Qudrat, a 22-year-old mountaineer, high-altitude trail runner, and licensed tour and trekking guide from Shimshal Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan — the Valley of Mountaineers. I am the founder of Pak Women High Altitude Trail Run Pakistan’s first initiative of its kind using high-altitude running to promote mental health awareness and inspire Pakistani women to believe they can do hard things.
She is training for her return to high-altitude running in 2026, after a two-year break for her studies.
In 2026, she is undertaking Professional Mountain Guide Training organized by EV K2 CNR.
In 2026, she is also taking the National Tour Guides Training, organized by PTDC with the Alpine Club of Pakistan and PATO.
She is currently enrolled in the BS Honors programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management at KIU, Hunza Campus.
Pak Women High Altitude Trail Run has completed seven runs to Pakistani basecamps, including Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi.
She plans to cover all the basecamps of Pakistan's famous mountains through the initiative.
Her long-term goals are to represent Pakistan internationally and to run to the basecamps of all 14 eight-thousanders.

Sohana grew up in Shimshal, where her father became her first mentor and her home became her first school of strength. The mountains remain at the centre of her daily life and identity.
She keeps her body ready through regular training and short trail runs. During her two-year break for study, she continued these runs to maintain her fitness.
Away from the trails, she enjoys reading, journalling, and bike riding. These hobbies give her time to reflect and recover.
